1. John Fountain born England. Married Ann Franklin. Immigrated to US
1835. Came to New Eng. Children of John and Ann. Fountain were
Henry, Esther, Richard, David, Thomas W, and Ann. Henry, David and
Richard died early in life. Wife Ann Fountain died while the family
Lived in Conn. John Fountain then married Abiline Phipps in Mass.
John and Abiline had three children: Thomas Jason, Isabelle (McGuiness),
and Lafayette (Lafe). The family moved to South Bend, NE. John
Fountain was a blacksmith by trade.
2. Abiline Phipps Fountain came to South Bend, NE in 1857 with her
husband, John Fountain. Had three children. (See above).
3. Thomas Jason Fountain was the son of John and Abiline Fountain.
Attended school as a child in Conn. Married Mary Ann Hamilton Cummings,
who was born in MO. She had three grown children with the Surname
Cummings: Harriet (Sarpy Co), Etheleen (Sarpy Co), and Erwin
(Lyons, Co). Thomas Jason Fountain was a half-brother of TW Fountain,
one of the founders of South Bend, NE. T W Fountain was a son of
John Fountain by his first marriage (See above). T. W. Fountain and
his wife Ann are buried in South Bend Cemetery. Fountain Creek which
flows about one mile west of Emmanuel Cemetery was named for this
family.
John Fountain is the great-great grandfather of Mary Heard
of Louisville, NE.
