Purchase of Lot #5 by Arthur Rikli Feb 21, 1890. Paid $5.00
1. Arthur Rikli was born in Millstadt Switzerland, near Bern. His father was a doctor who operated a health spa, which is still in operation. Immigrated as a young adult. Came to Plattsmouth. Husband of Margaretha Ohl. Moved to Sec 12, Elmwood Prec. He and his wife were very early members of Emmanuel Church. Later, moved to Murdock when the town started. Opened a furniture store and undertaking parlor. Then, Louis Neitzel and Rikli opened an implement business. Arthur and Margaretha had 12 children. Eleven grew to adulthood…Arnold, Br. Arthur, Elizabeth Opitz, Emma Gregory, Oscar, Emil, William, Leo, Mary Stolz, Lorenz, Alfred. Arthur’s farm remains in the family.
2. Margaretha Ohl Rikli was born in Bavaria Germany. Immigrated to US in 1860. Daughter of Phillip and Helena Ohl. Spellings vary. May be Oel or Oehl. Met Arthur Rikli at Plattsmouth and married in 1870. See above for children. (See Lot 6)
3. Leo Rikli was son of Arthur and Margaretha Rikli. Farmed and raided cattle his entire life. Lived on Sec 12 Elmwood Prec. (See above). Married Edna Johannsen (See Lot 62). Faithful member of Murdock Ebenezer Church. Leo and Edna had 4 children: Veron, Warren (Abe), Donald (Dutch), and Naomi Geweke. Leo and Edna retired to Murdock and Lincoln.
4. Edna Rikli was daughter of Jacob (Joe) and Rosa Johannsen. (See Lot ) Born Manning, IA. Lived in Omaha, Havelock, and Murdock. Wife of Leo Rikli. Sunday school teacher and choir director in Naomi Geweke.
5. Alfred Rikli son of Arthur and Margaretha Rikli. Died as a child.
